Intern from Capella University
she/her/hers

I am Tia Hunter, a graduate student intern with Capella University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Throughout my life, there were more times than I care to admit that I gave my voice away. Be it with family, friends, co-workers, or even total strangers. I would shrink myself to maintain others’ comfort. Having worked mainly in medical settings I’ve witnessed others do this also, sometimes during the best and/or worst moments of their lives, but unable to support them in the best capacity. Counseling has changed all of this, providing space to cultivate my most harmonious self and the tools to share with others that hope to do the same. It has been the most fulfilling journey I have taken in life. I enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds; I am LGBTQIAP+ affirming as well as a supporter (and member) of the healthy at any size community. I have a particular passion for making sure clients dealing with chronic illness, chronic pain, and hidden disabilities feel heard and seen.
