My name is Nicole Donald, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), and Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT). I received a Masters of Science in Counseling Education from East Carolina University. My therapeutic approach consists of Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered Theories. I have eight years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults in an inpatient mental health setting. I have training in facilitating interventions including but not limited to stress management, coping skills, anger management, relaxation techniques, emotion regulation/mood management, and assertive communication. In addition, I value therapy in the form of recreation and encourage the use of positive recreation and leisure activities to improve skills, abilities, and overall quality of life.
I provide individual and group counseling services for individuals dealing with emotional and mental issues. I respect individuals from all backgrounds and understand that cultural competency and a holistic perspective is necessary to meet the needs of each client. I believe that every individual possesses the strength and potential to work through life problems. I seek to help my clients discover this potential and learn skills and strategies that will help them achieve their goals through empowering my clients and providing them with conditions for personal growth. I am committed to building collaborative partnerships, creating a judgment-free atmosphere, and supporting clients as they gain the skills and confidence required to successfully manage their lives.
